Indie pic was award winner at Slamdance.
Monterey Media has acquired domestic rights to “The Scenesters” from Midwinter Studios and plans to take the dark comedy on tour to as many as 60 cities and campuses starting in February in partnership with Rangelife Entertainment.
Written and directed by Todd Berger and produced by Kevin M. Brennan, Jeff Grace and Brett D. Thompson, “The Scenesters” was named most interesting film at last year’s Slamdance Film Festival.
Story centers on a director who loses funding for his avant-garde docu about East L.A. scenesters, takes a job as a crime-scene videographer and meets a crime-scene cleaner who begins finding key clues in a series of hipster killings missed by the apathetic detectives assigned to the case.
Pic co-stars Sherilyn Fenn with a cameo by Brian Huskey.
Berger is repped by Kohner Agency, Kaplan-Perrone, and attorney Rob Szymanski.
