Foresight Unlimited today officially unveiled plans for a $120M-budged sci-fi action film titled Inversion, about what would happen if Earth lost its gravity. There’s no director yet, but financing is in place via Hong Kong’s Pegasus Motion Pictures and shooting is scheduled to start in January 2015. The script, from Bragi Schut and Children Of Men scribe David Arata, centers on a global chase against the clock to save Earth’s inhabitants, traveling from China to Europe to the U.S. where among other things New York City is completely inverted. Philip Lee (Cloud Atlas), Michael Nozik (Syriana) and Markus Barmettler (Conviction) are producers. It’s an unusually big budget for a pic that kicks off on the Croisette, but Forsight, the producer behind Lone Survivor and 2 Guns as well as the upcoming Rob Reiner pic And So It Goes and the Spike Lee-Justin Timberlake film Spinning Gold is clearly aiming for a big splash. The project was introduced to buyers just ahead of the Cannes market kickoff, with Foresight chairman and CEO Mark Damon and president Tamara Birkemoe already completing deals in territories including Spain, Russia, Benelux, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, South Africa, Philippines, the Middle East, Turkey, India and Thailand.
