UPDATED with more details: A24 is launching its Cannes campaign early by acquiring rights to Remember, the Atom Egoyan-helmed thriller that stars Christopher Plummer. This is one that has Oscar bait potential, and could see Plummer make a run at a second Oscar (he won Supporting Actor for Beginners in 2012). Deal is being wrapped up right now by WME Global.
I’m hearing that the deal is for low seven figures for the pic first unveiled at last year’s Cannes market. The plot centers on Plummer’s Zev, who is sent on a mission to avenge a horror from the darkest chapter of modern history after it is discovered that the Nazi guard who murdered his family some 70 years ago is now living in America under an assumed identity. Martin Landau, Henry Czerny and Dean Norris co-star.
IM Global is repping the film, which was written by first-time scribe Benjamin August. Serendipity Point Films’ Robert Lantos and Ari Lantos produced in association with Distant Horizon, Detalle, Telefilm Canada and Egoli Tossell. Mark Musselman and Anant Singh executive produce with Moises Cosio, Jeff Sagansky, Mike Porter, Larry Guterman and D. Matt Geller.
