Nicolas Cage is reteaming with his “Leaving Las Vegas” helmer Mike Figgis on thriller “Exit 147.”
“Exit 147” is repped in international markets by Umedia and written by Travis Milloy (“Pandorum”). Cage will star as a cop with a warped sense of justice.
The plot of “Exit 147” intertwines various characters and narratives, including Cage’s policeman, a woman escaping her abusive partner, a man that Cage arrests — all get embroiled in a series of sadistic mind games.
“This is the kind of story that turns up once in a blue moon. It is the perfect vehicle for Nicolas, and I am excited to be back in business with this great actor. I love this combination of dark and scary balanced with edgy humor,” said Figgis, who added that it was a “dream project for a small ensemble of actors.”
Cage last worked with Figgis on “Leaving Last Vegas,” which was nominated for four Academy Awards, and earned Cage an Oscar for his perf as an alcoholic Hollywood screenwriter who drinks himself to death in Las Vegas.
“Exit 147” is produced by Lenny Beckerman of Uber Content, Adrian Politowski and Karl Richards of Umedia, Jason Michael Berman of Mandalay Pictures, and Cathy Schulman. Matthew Rhodes, and Annie Stewart are exec producing.
Umedia is also financing the picture, which will start shooting in January.
