“Saturday Night Live,” was the big winner on the first night of the Creative Arts Emmys, earning six Emmys, followed by Ron Howard’s “Jim Henson Idea Man,” “The Oscars” and the animated series “Blue Eye Samurai,” which collected four trophies apiece.

In animation, Netflix’s “Blue Eye Samurai” triumphed over “The Simpsons,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Scavenger Reign” and “X-Men ‘97” to take home four awards including outstanding animated program. Co-creator Amber Noizumi noted the significance of the win: “You cannot have tomorrow’s franchises if you don’t bet on originals today.”
