Co-created by
LaToya Morgan and
J.J. Abrams, the brand-new original series
Duster has been lighting up the recently
renamed HBO Max despite being just two episodes in. Following “a rookie FBI agent seeking revenge. A reckless getaway driver looking for justice. And a case involving the FBI, the CIA, the Russians, and God knows who else,”
Josh Holloway, best known for his role as Sawyer in
Lost, stars as Jim Ellis. In the most recent second episode, Jim struck a deal with
Patrick Warburton‘s Sunglasses to further expand his reach in the criminal underworld and set in motion a chaotic chain of events.
Following the series’ initial debut, Abrams and Morgan’s crime drama boasted a superb
“certified fresh” 89% critics’ rating on review aggregator
Rotten Tomatoes. However, with episode three right around the corner, it seems opinions have grown as more reviews are filed on the aforementioned site. Now,
Duster‘s critics’ rating has increased to a huge 92%, bolstered by a strong 84% audience score that proves the feeling is mutual across the board. For Holloway, this new increase makes
Duster his joint highest-rated TV project of all time, tied in first place with the brilliant
Colony, and 6% higher than
Lost. Holloway stars in the series alongside the likes of
Prison Break‘s
Camille Guaty, The Last O.G.’s
Sydney Elisabeth,
Love, Victor‘s
Rachel Hilson.
What Will Happen in ‘Duster’ Episode 3?
Holloway is no stranger to a dramatic series, with the aforementioned Lost and Seasons 3 and 4 of Taylor Sheridan‘s hit western series Yellowstone under his belt. However, the way Duster is shaping up, it might just be his most dramatic role yet, with twists, turns, and high emotional stakes aplenty, leaving viewers thus far gripped. After Episode 2 saw Holloway’s Jim and Hilson’s first Black female FBI agent, Nina, take down corrupt cops and uncover mind-blowing industry secrets, Episode 3 is shaping up to already be unmissable, with a synopsis that reads, “Nina and Awan search for a troubled ex-agent; Jim discovers evidence confirming Nina’s suspicions about Saxton.” With new episodes premiering every Thursday, and the next arriving tomorrow on May 29, 2025, there isn’t long to wait to see what happens next. With eight episodes in total greenlit for the first season, the halfway point beckons, with much more drama likely to arrive in the second half.
Morgan is represented by WME and attorney Rob Szymanski.
